Summary

The adjunct piano faculty member should possess expertise in piano performance and pedagogy.  The position will include teaching applied lessons and class lessons in piano, as well as overseeing Piano Proficiency exams.  The faculty member will also be expected to sit in on student juries and senior secital jury hearings as necessary. 

Responsibilities

  • Teach private and class lessons in piano primarily to piano majors but to non-music majors as well
  • Proctor the Piano Proficiency Exams each semester
  • Sit in on student juries and recital hearings (as applicable)

Qualifications

  • Fluency on the piano and expertise in piano performance
  • Demonstrated excellence in effective teaching at the college level in private lessons
  • An understanding of the place of music in the life of the church
  • Appreciation and understanding of a variety of musical styles and forms
  • A desire to see one’s students succeed and pursue excellence in all areas of musical study
  • Eagerness to invest in students and the music program as a whole
  • An earned M.M. (Masters in Music) from an accredited university is required (preferably in Piano Performance and/or Piano Pedagogy)
