Summary

The Development Assistant plays an important role in providing administrative support to the Development team in every aspect of the planning, execution and evaluation of all fundraising activities including, but not limited to, development and alumni events, Capital Campaign, scholarship and financial aid administration as well as donor cultivation and recognition. Other responsibilities include receiving and processing all gifts and donations, maintaining the donor database, establishing and maintaining an annual events calendar to create timelines for meeting logistical deadlines efficiently within the department budget, and assisting in the development and execution of an internal fundraising policy/process for faculty, student groups and organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process all donations and gifts, determine tax deductible value, designate to the appropriate gift account, record, and send acknowledgements
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of all development, alumni & donor driven events, managing all aspects of event communication, logistics, tracking and budget
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers needed for events
  • Assist in maintenance and distribution of financial aid through the scholarship fund
  • Confirm and communicate annual scholarship amounts to appropriate faculty and staff for distribution
  • Schedule and coordinate faculty and staff financial aid committee lunch
  • Advertise Merit scholarships, collect and disseminate applications
  • Facilitate scholarship sponsor acknowledgement from student recipients
  • Maintain relationships with scholarship sponsors through established donor touch process
  • Provide administrative support for the Development Team
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and compile reports on current or prospective donors
  • Coordinate mailings including creating queries, merge files, generating letters, etc.
  • Manage gift accounts (FOFA, Booster Club, Winterim, etc. and reconcile monthly bank statement
  • Manage day to day operations, including mail, checks, filing, record keeping, spreadsheets

  • Proven interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) required
  • Prior experience with Razors Edge or other fundraising database preferred
  • Three years of related experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • Understanding of Christian education philosophy desirable
