Where is CIU?
CIU is out in the country and close to town, offering the best of both worlds. Our quiet, cozy campus is just a few miles from the heart of Columbia, South Carolina’s capital city.
What To See & Do in Columbia
Along with big-time sporting events, gathering spots like coffee shops and a diverse range of dining and music venues cater to college students.
Shopping options — from eclectic boutiques to major malls — are readily available. And along with being notably student-friendly, Columbia also offers a wide range of educational, entertainment and living options for young families.
Meanwhile, outdoorsy types can take advantage of the paddling, boating, fishing, hiking and camping available at the rivers, lakes, state parks and forests that grace the Midlands. That's what we call central South Carolina. Columbia is in the middle of the Midlands, just a couple hours from the North Carolina mountains and the Palmetto State’s beaches.
How to Get Here
It’s an easy drive from CIU to Charleston, Charlotte, Greenville and Atlanta. The Columbia Metropolitan Airport offers direct flights to cities such as Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. Amtrak and Greyhound also serve Columbia.
