Technical Information and Help
Hardware Requirements:
Windows PC: Pentium system, 32 megabytes of memory (RAM), 28.8 modem, 4X CD-ROM, sound card and speaker, Windows 95, 98, NT.
Macintosh: A power PC system with 32 megabytes of memory (RAM), 28.8 modem, 4X CD-ROM, Mac OS system 7 or newer.
Internet Access Requirements: You may use the Internet Service Provider (ISP) of your choice.
Software Requirements:
Word Processing: Microsoft Word 97 (or newer), or WordPerfect 7(or newer).
Virus Protection: Virus protection software must be purchased by students and upgraded regularly—Norton AntiVirus or MacAfee are two recommendations.
Sound Player Software: RealPlayer 8 or Windows MediaPlayer are both free for downloading.
Portable Document Format Reader: Adobe Acrobat Reader 3 or newer.
Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free download.
Browser Requirements: One of the following is needed. Students using AOL as their Internet Service Provider are encouraged to download the full version of either of these browsers in order to experience the best performance for their web courses.
Netscape Navigator 4 (or newer) is a free download.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 (or newer) is a free download.
Email Requirements: You will need an email account through which you can send and receive email. You may do that through your Internet Service Provider or an independent provider. Juno offers free email service in the United States. Your email account must be registered with the CIU Seminary Admissions Department.
