Alumni Center The Alumni Center is open to all alumni: relax on the porch, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, browse through the alumni author books or yearbooks, and enjoy free WiFi. Alumni Meals In addition to the free room, alumni may receive three free meals in the dining room per year, compliments of the Alumni Office. Tickets for meals must be picked up beforehand in the Alumni Office. The cafeteria cannot issue the free alumni meal tickets. (These tickets are for alumni only --additional meal tickets can be purchased at a discount in the cafeteria.) CIU alumni can also benefit from discounted prices in the cafeteria: breakfast - $3.00; lunch - $3.50; dinner - $4.00. Prices for guests are: breakfast - $5.00; lunch - $5.50; dinner - $6.00. Bookstore Columbia International University Bookstore is the campus bookstore serving the students, faculty and staff of CIU. Our primary goal is to ensure students are able to obtain the course materials they need at reasonable prices. We also provide many other items to support your academic career and school spirit. Best known for his seminars on marriage, the family and parenting, James M. “Buck” Hatch, served Columbia International University as a teacher, counselor, and administrator for almost 40 years. A pioneer in the field of biblical counseling, Hatch taught and counseled not from a platform of strength, but from his own experience of brokenness and pain. He was honored as CIU Alumni of the Year in 1998, and went to be with the Lord in 1999. His timeless messages from scripture can be found in the Buck Hatch Library. Church Health Consulting and Leadership Coaching Dr. Roy King, Director of Alumni Ministries, has worked with over 500 congregational and parachurch leaders in the past 7 years. He is available for email and phone consultations on a variety of issues facing leaders. He also maintains a network of other consulting and ministry resources from around the world. Roy can help leaders diagnose problems and develop a strategic plan that may include other CIU faculty. Ministries served are asked to reimburse any travel and/or materials costs. Fees and honorariums are determined by those served after service is received. Gifts can be designated for Church Health. Conference Services The Conference Services Department of Columbia International University assists churches and other organizations by providing campus facilities and services for conferences, youth camps, and meetings which are for a religious, educational, or community purpose. Whether you're planning a church conference, a youth camp, a banquet, or a meeting - the campus of Columbia International University may be the perfect place to host your event! Curriculum Ministry Resource Department The Curriculum Ministry Resources Department (CMRD), located in the lower level of the Ridderhof Building (below the Communications Department), has over 10,000 items for teaching the Bible to preschoolers through adults. Whether you want curriculum, worksheets, maps & charts, international flags & costumes, teaching boards, puppets, DVDs, or powerpoint, the MRD is the first place you should look. The CMRD has a die-cut machine with almost 100 shapes, numbers and letters (great for scrapbook-making and other crafts). You can also laminate for 50 cents per linear foot. Call (803) 807-5160 for information or visit the CRMD online. Fitness Center The Moore Fitness Center is located on CIU's campus behind the McQuilkin classroom building. Memberships are free for all full-time students and current faculty and staff. Part-time students and alumni may purchase memberships for a small fee. Amenities include an aerobics room, a free weights room, a full-size gymnasium, and a cardiovascular room with a full complement of circuit training, treadmills, recumbent bicycles and elliptical machines. Additionally, the Moore Fitness center has a small library of popular DVD and video-game based workouts. Sports equipment may be borrowed from the front desk for up to one week at no charge. A variety of instructor-led classes are offered each semester. The Moore Fitness Center also hosts all of CIU's indoor intramural sports. Please note that you must sign up ahead of time to participate in intramural sports Guest Pass - Class Audit Program The Alumni Association is happy to offer the opportunity for CIU alumni to continue attending courses. There is no charge for the guest pass, and the benefit is unlimited. You may audit any course up to the level of your highest attained degree (i.e. an alumnus with a master's degree could use the guest pass for a bachelor or master's course. An alumna with a bachelor's degree could audit Undergraduate courses.) Please note the following restrictions:

Guest Rooms As a benefit to all of our alumni, we offer each alumni household one free night per year in one of our alumni guestrooms, compliments of the Alumni Office. Please contact the university receptionist at (800) 777-2227 for reservations. Restrictions: The alumni price is non-transferrable, i.e., friends and relatives may not use this benefit in place of the alumnus. Alumni may only receive one free night per household. Benefit not applicable during Homecoming or other special events. Call for availability. Library Local or visiting alumni who want to check out books from the G. Allen Fleece Library at CIU may purchase an account for $10, which is good for ten years use of the library. Out-of-town alumni are welcome to search the library's catalog. If you find something that you would like to check out, you may ask your local public librarian to borrow it from CIU through interlibrary loan. Alumni also have access to the ATLAS database by using their alumni NetCommunity password. Assistance in using the database is available from CIU reference librarians. (For NetCommunity login and password, contact the alumni office for assistance). Robertson McQuilkin Resources Dr. Robertson McQuilkin served in the roles of administrator, profssor, and president of Columbia International University for 22 years before stepping down to care for his wife Muriel who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. An author and missionary statesman known around the world, McQuilkin speaks and writes on topics such as Facing Adversity, Christian Living, Missions, Biblical Ethics and Stewardship.
