During this three day weekend, many scholarships will be awarded, including the R.C. McQuilkin Scholarship. Named for our first president, this award covers full-tuition at CIU for four years.

This exciting weekend will include faculty interviews, group discussions, interaction with current students and staff, and opportunities to fellowship with potential classmates.

To qualify for this special weekend, students must be high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an SAT score of 1000 or above (total of math and critical reading sections, excluding writing section) or ACT composite score of 21 or above. Weekend participants must also complete the following:

1. Register for the Weekend

2. CIU Admissions Application

3. Christian Experience Essay (600 words minimum)

4. CIU Scholarship Application - please call Kelly Werner at (803) 807-5035 to receive instructions on completing the online financial aid application. This will not be availabe until after you have registered for the Weekend and applied to CIU.

5. Submit a 500-600 word Leadership essay, answering the question: "How do you anticipate being a leader on our campus?"

6. Submit an unofficial high school transcript and your SAT/ACT scores.

7.Submit a recent photo digital photo of you. Attach the photo to an email and send to leadership@ciu.edu.

The deadline to register for the weekend and have all the necessary paperwork turned in is Friday, November 16th, 2012. Please either mail documents to CIU (7435 Monticello Road, Columbia, SC 29230) or e-mail to leadership@ciu.edu.

Accepting CIU Scholarships

Students awarded a leadership scholarship, including the R.C. McQuilkin Scholarship, will have until March 1st to accept the scholarship. To secure and accept the scholarship, the student must submit a $400 deposit ($300 enrollment and $100 housing). This amount will be credited to the student's account.

Restrictions

The student receiving the R.C. McQuilkin Scholarship is not eligible for any other CIU grants or scholarships. Students receiving a Presidential, Dean or Servant Leader Scholarship are eligible for CIU grants, up to the cost of tuition and fees. All students receiving CIU Leadership Scholarships must apply for all federal, state and outside aid, which will be applied prior to the CIU Leadership Scholarship being applied.

Travel and Accomodations

Travel to CIU is at the student's expense. If the student is traveling by air to Columbia, please notify CIU so that a CIU representative can transport the student from the airport to campus.
