McQuilkin Scholarship Event Details

During this exciting event, you'll get to interact with current students, CIU faculty and staff, and potential classmates. You'll also participate in group discussions and faculty interviews. Most of all, you'll be competing for a chance to win a full scholarship to CIU. That's right, should you win, tuition will be covered for the next four years!


To qualify for the R.C. McQuilkin Scholarship, you must: 

  • be a high school senior (planning to start classes at CIU in the 2017 fall term);

  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0; and

  • have either an SAT score of 1000 or above (total of math &critical reading sections, excluding writing section) or an ACT composite score of 21 or above.

Registration Requirements

Registration is not currently open for the 2016 event.  Get a head start by submitting the following to the Admissions Office:

  1. CIU Undergraduate Admissions Application

  2. Application Essay

  3. Church Leadership Reference Form

  4. One-page leadership resume highlighting your school, church, and community involvement

  5. Unofficial high school transcript 

  6. SAT or ACT scores 

  7. Recent digital headshot of yourself (.jpg format)

Scholarship Details & Restrictions

The McQuilkin full scholarship is applied after any eligible state and federal aid are awarded; recipient is not eligible for any other CIU scholarships. The two additional $10,000 scholarships are disbursed at $2,500 a year over a four year period; recipients are eligible for additional CIU scholarships. Each of the three scholarships are renewable only if the student maintains a GPA of 3.0 or greater and are not on academic or character probation. These scholarships exclude CIU and Ben Lippen School employee dependents. All students receiving scholarships must complete a FAFSA.

Travel & Accommodations

The scholarship event is a free event.  However, travel expenses are not provided by CIU. A CIU representative can be arranged to pick you up from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Accommadations are provided for participating students at no charge. Off-campus, and limited on-campus, accommodations are available for families traveling with participants at your own expense.
