The mission of CIU IT Services is to support CIU users in their pursuit of the university's mission by providing information technology systems and services that:

  1. enable CIU personnel to optimize their personal connectivity, productivity, administrative efficiency, and educational effectiveness, and
  2. assist students in their academic and ministry pursuits.


All computer resources, whether hardware or software, associated with the CIU computer network are intended for use by authorized individuals, using registered equipment, for CIU approved activities. Local, state, and federal laws and regulations govern the use of computers, software, communications networks, and online material. Educational institutions are responsible for taking reasonable measures to prevent illegal or unethical use of their computer systems. Consequently, CIU monitors network and computer related activity and files at its discretion to

  1. protect the security and integrity of computing resources
  2. protect the University from legal liabilities
  3. analyze usage patterns or investigate unusual or excessive activity
  4. investigate apparent violations of the law
  5. investigate apparent violations of University policy or standards
  6. comply with legal requirements
  7. respond to exigent circumstances
CIU reserves the right to require removal of any material or equipment which, in its opinion, presents a compromise of appropriate use or security.
