The CIU Bowl’s Macho Men

Fierce football players fill the field. Their eyes are intense. Their cheeks are lined with black war paint. Their scowls could scare an angry junkyard dog. Their broad shoulders and big biceps bulge through their jerseys. The jerseys are covered with color and writing which display which army they fight for. Belts with flags lie around the waists of these fighters. Fans may wonder which army their friends will fight for. Will they wage war for good? Or for evil? For the nefarious North? Or for the sinister South? The cleats of these soldiers rip through grass and dirt. Only the most macho of men will survive.

This is the CIU Bowl. A flag football game reserved for only the manliest of men. The Civil War is child’s play compared to the CIU Bowl. Brother will fight against brother. Yankees from the North will challenge Americans from the South. This is no game for the faint of heart. It happens every year, but every year the intensity remains. Blood will be spilt. Tempers will flare. Flags will be torn. Chunks of jerseys and shorts may be ripped off. Limbs may be broken. Muscles may be torn. But the battle must be fought. The war for bragging rights must be won. Only one side will emerge victorious. Some soldiers will lose their self-confidence. Their egos will be shattered, when their valiant efforts have only ended in defeat. In one week, this bloody battle will take place on the Ben Lippen football field.  The enlistment for bold warriors to enter the battle has ended. But you, the fan, must choose. Which army will you root for? Will you cheer for the sinful South? Or will you applaud the efforts of the wicked North?
