30 Days of Prayer for Rams Athletics
As our hearts are focused on creating an athletics department which will glorify God, we desire that all at CIU are a part of the building of the program, starting with prayer. If you can or feel lead, please join us in prayer as we develop CIU Rams Athletics and dedicate our work to the Lord; asking for His guidance, direction and wisdom.

History In The Making
We are embarking on one of the most exciting chapters in the history of CIU. For the first time in 89 years, CIU will field our first intercollegiate athletic teams in fall 2012. Why athletics at CIU? It fits with our purpose of educating people from a biblical worldview to impact the nations with the message of Christ. Imagine the outreach that student-athletes and coaches can have both at home and abroad using the platform of athletics to share the good news of Jesus Christ
Our Sports
Fall 2012 marks the beginning of an aggressive five-year plan introducing intercollegiate athletics at CIU.
Our League
CIU will compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), whose mission is to use athletic competition as an integral component of education, evangelism, and encouragement.
Our Mascot
The ram was chosen as the CIU mascot for its strength and its biblical significance. Not only are rams known as ferocious defenders of their territory and their flock, the ram is a symbol of God's provision - a foreshadowing of Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

Cheryl Guinther is the communications coordinator for the Alumni Ministries Office of Columbia International University. She serves alumni with genuine personal care and a professional approach developed over years as an executive administrative assistant and missionary. Cheryl worked over six years for a Christian financial management company providing client-care to seniors. As a missionary with Brethren in Christ World Missions in Zambia, Africa, Cheryl managed a mission guesthouse, served with a church team taking the “Jesus Film” to outlying villages, and started a “Reading Room” ministry to help street children return to school. For the last five years, she has been a mentor in the Missions Development Program for Brethren in Christ World Missions. Cheryl and her husband, Peter, moved to Columbia from Mechanicsburg, Penn. in August of 2010 so that Peter could complete his Master of Divinity degree at CIU. She enjoys reading, gardening, volunteering at a women’s shelter, and the close fellowship with her neighbors in the CIU Village.
Cheryl’s favorite Scripture verse is Romans 13:8.
Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Visit Options
There are several ways you can visit campus, so find the option that works best for you and sign up! We're looking forward to having you on campus soon!
Visit Days
Come and experience CIU during one of our group visit days. During these special visit days you'll get to tour CIU's beautiful campus, sit in on class, connect with professors and students in your area of interest, interact with other students, and participate in a chapel service. Representatives from admissions, student financial services, and residence life will be available to meet and give you information about life at CIU. If these dates don't fit into your schedule, please let us know and we'll schedule a personal visit just for you.
If you are unable to schedule a visit during the day, be our guest at one of our Evening Open Houses.

Individualized Campus Visits
Is CIU the right place for you? Come find out with an individual campus visit! You may schedule a visit online or contact our Campus Visit Coordinator at (800) 777-2227 ext. 5058 or (803) 807-5058 or email us at visitciu@ciu.edu.
Columbia International University welcomes visitors year-round. The Office of Admissions is open Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM. Campus visits are scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during the fall and spring semesters. January 2-18 and May - August we offer an abbreviated schedule (see below).
Due to campus-wide events on the following dates, no individualized visits are available: October 14, 20, 27-28; November 2, 21-30; December 1-3, 26-30; January 16; February 7; March 5-9, 19-23; and April 6-13, 18.
A traditional visit (including all the below activities) lasts from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are happy to work with your schedule if you are unable to visit during these times.

For single, undergraduate visitors, our Campus Visit Coordinator can also arrange overnight housing in the residence halls with one of our student hosts for one night (bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, toiletries, etc). If you would like to schedule an overnight stay, please schedule your visit at least two weeks prior to your visit.
A hotel list is available for married students and/or family members staying overnight in the Columbia area. CIU also has a limited number of guest rooms available for $45/night in our Alumni Center.
CIU will help arrange airport pickup from Columbia Metropolitan Airport; please provide the details of your arrival/departure to our Campus Visit Coordinator two weeks prior to your campus visit.
We will make every effort to accommodate those with special needs or food allergies. If accommodations are needed, please schedule your visit at least 30 days in advance to allow time to collect proper documentation and make the necessary arrangements.
