Alex Luc joined the seminary faculty in 1982. A linguist, Dr. Luc draws deeply from his understanding of intercultural issues and comparative religions as he makes the Old Testament come alive for students. A contributor to the The New International Dictionary of Old Testament Theology and Exegesis, Dr. Luc has published two books and many articles on Old Testament studies in scholarly journals such as Zeitschrift für die alttestamentliche Wissenschaft, Journal for the Study of the Old Testament, Hebrew Studies, The Journal for the Aramaic Bible, Chinese Theological Journal, The Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, and Evangelical Missions Quarterly, and in popular journals such as Chinese Churches Today (Chinese) and Decision Magazine. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and also a member of its Board of Referees, the National Association of Professors of Hebrew, the Society of Biblical Literature. Dr. Luc, currently a member of a Southern Baptist church, served as a school principal and a pastor before turning to full time seminary teaching. He and his wife Trina have two sons, Michael and Stephen.
