Identity - Naming
2.1. Naming Conventions
The proper name of the corporation and the higher education division is:
Columbia International University
This may be shortened to CIU to make it easier to say and give an accessible feel to the institution, but should only be done after the full name has been used previously.
There are three colleges in the higher education division. These are the CIU:
Undergraduate School
Graduate School
Seminary & School of Missions
These can also be shortened as needed, but should also be used only after the full name has been used. Examples include:
The undergrad
the grad school
the seminary
The undergrad can simply be referred to as Columbia International University, with the graduate colleges qualified by their names:
CIU Graduate School
CIU Seminary & school of Missions
In addition to its unique certificates, CIU's schools offer several types of degrees. These are the:
Associates
Bachelor of Arts
Masters
Doctorates
These degrees are offered through a multitude of programs.
The courses for these programs can be obtained using several study options. These are:
Daytime
Evening
Weekend
Online
Independent
Intensive
Several of these study options are offered on several campuses here in the U.S., and abroad.
In addition to the higher education division, there are also several ministries connected to CIU. These are:
Ben Lippen School
89.7 WMHK
New Life 91.9
Conference Services
TraveLearn
Zwemer Center for Muslim Studies
Prison Intiative
Russian Language Studies
All parts of CIU need to be identified as being part of the corporation at all times. This includes all ministries, divisions, departments, events, conferences, and institutes. For example:
The Seminary & School of Missions at Columbia International University
The Graduate School at CIU
The Undergraduate School at CIU
Ben Lippen School, a ministry of Columbia International University
89.7 WMHK, a ministry of Columbia International University
New Life 91.9, a ministry of Columbia International University
CIU Distance Learning Department
The Summit Leadership Conference at Columbia International University
Columbia Youth Conference at CIU
Anything distributed externally which bears the name of the corporation, or any of it's departments or divisions, MUST be authorized by the CIU Marketing Department.
2.2. Slogans and Tag Lines
Columbia International University does not use a slogan or tagline. Slogans or tag lines should not be sued by divisions or departments w/o approval of the CIU Marketing Department.
2.3 Grandfather Policy
CIU does not encourage the waste of materials. To that end, a grandfather policy is now in place as of 10/1/06, that will allow for the use of previously produced materials that do not currently adhere to this identity system. Anything produced from that date forward must use the new system.
