10.2. Graphics
Three types of downloads are currently available:
1. EPS files for both the Mac and PC: EPS files should be used for printed documents. EPS files can be used to create other file formats using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
2. JPG: JPG files are high resolution (300 dpi) and should be used for printing purposes within Microsoft Office or other documents. They should not be used on web pages.
3. GIF: GIF files should be used on web pages only. These files have a transparent background. Although, if used on a dark background, the anti-aliasing may produce a halo-effect.
10.2.1. How to Resize Files
To resize a logo and maintain the correct proportions,
1. Select the logo in its entirety,
2. Place the mouse at one of the corners of the logo,
3. Hold down the Shift key then click on the corner and drag the logo to the desired size.10.2.2. Applications for Editing Graphics Files
CIU logos are in Encapsulated Postscript format (.eps). This high-quality format is recognized by Macintosh and Windows. EPS files can be imported into most applications but must be edited in a graphics editing application, such as:
- Adobe® Photoshop http://www.adobe.com/photoshop/

- Macromedia® Freehand http://www.macromedia.com/freehand/
- Macromedia® Fireworks http://www.macromedia.com/fireworks/

10.2.3. Placing Graphics
CIU logos are available for use in three different file formats: EPS, JPG and GIF. The following table can be used as guideline for deciding which logo to use in which software package.EPS files can be used in the following programs:
- Adobe Illustrator®
- Adobe PageMaker®
- CorelDRAW®
- Quark Xpress®
JPG files can be used in the following programs:
- Excel®
- PowerPoint®
- Publisher®
- Word®
GIF files can be used in the following programs:
- BBEdit®
- Macromedia Dreamweaver®
- MS FrontPage®
- Adobe GoLive®
Please note: The following directions are basic suggestions on how to place logos in various types of program. Placement commands may vary depending on the program and version being used.
To place an EPS logo in a layout program (such as Illustrator®, PageMaker®, CorelDRAW®, or Quark Xpress®)
1. Place cursor where you would like the logo inserted.
2. 2. Click on the Place/Import/Insert command from the program menu.To place a JPG in Office programs (such programs as Excel® PowerPoint®, Publisher®, and Word®)
1. Open the desired JPG file. Select and copy the logo.
2. In the Office program you are working in- place cursor where you would like the logo inserted.
3. Select Edit and then Paste from the program menu (Please note: in some cases, the Paste Special command may work better).To place a GIF logo in a web page editor (such as Adobe GoLive®, BBEdit®, Macromedia Dreamweaver®, or MS FrontPage®)
1. In the Design/GUI view, place cursor where you would like the logo inserted.
2. Click on the Insert Image command (from the program menu or floating palette) and browse to image file on your computer.
