Master of Arts Muslim Studies
The Master of Arts [Muslim Studies] is designed to provide graduates with the skills necessary for successful work among Muslims. This program provides you with a focused knowledge of the tools and techniques needed to analyze the theology, traditions, and worldview of Islam. Courses are in depth analysis of Islamic History/Culture, Islamic Theology/Philosophy, Mission Strategy and business matters for the Muslim World. This degree prepares students for roles such as field missionary, international development worker, campus ministry among Muslim students, or international business in Muslim contexts.

Dr. Phil Parshall (D.Miss., 1980, Fuller Theological Seminary; Merrill Fellow, 1983, Harvard University) has been a missionary in Bangladesh for 21 years; Field Director for most of those years; Founder of the Bangladesh Bible Correspondence School; Founder of an annual spiritual life conference for missionaries in Bangladesh; Vice-president of the Bangladesh Bible Society; member of the International Council and Executive Committee of International Christian Fellowship, and Interim Home Director of I.C.F. (1979-1980). Additionally, he has served among Muslims in the Philippines with SIM for almost 20 years, as Director of the Asian Research Center. He has authored nine books on Islam.
Dr. Cindi Strong is Associate Professor of Missiology at Simpson University in Redding, California. During college she studiedAnglo-Saxon language and literature at St Andrews University in Scotland and received her B.A. degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Cindi and her husband served for fifteen years as a missionary with the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Korea and the Philippines. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary in Intercultural Studies with an emphasis on Islam, later teaching courses on Islam for the Alliance Biblical Seminary in Manila and at FullerTheological Seminary's Northern California campus. She currently teaches three courses on Islam for the Islamic Studies Track at Simpson University.
Dr. Steve Johnson (Ph.D., Indiana University) has a distinguished career as an Islamic scholar and perhaps has gone deeper into Islam than most. He is one of the most knowledgeable people in Islam in the West, especially on knowing how Muslims operate and think. He is a trained philosopher and psychotherapist who views Islam from the inside and through "Christian eyes, i.e., eyes of love for the Muslim."
Dr. Patrick Lai has a degree in Business-Marketing from the University of Oregon, a Masters of Divinity degree from Trinity Divinity School, and a Doctorate of Intercultural Studies from the Asia Graduate School of Theology where he researched
"Problems and Solutions for Enhancing the Productivity of Tentmakers Doing Church Planting in the 10/40 Window." He is the author of "Tentmaking - Business as Missions," as well as several articles on business as mission. Patrick has served in Asia for 24 years.
