In the M.A. in Muslim Studies program, you will focus on the tools and techniques needed to analyze the theology, traditions, and worldview of Islam. You will engage in research and analysis that contributes to the ministry of cross-cultural life and work among Muslims.
The M.A. (Muslim Studies) equips you to:
Demonstrate skill in identifying and analyzing cultural issues.
Evaluate current strategies regarding the global mission of God among Muslims.
Demonstrate effectiveness in cross-cultural analysis, research, and writing about the global mission of God among Muslims.
In partnership with the New York City International Project, CIU students can complete much or perhaps all of the M.A. in Intercultural or Muslim Studies (program 2 only) while serving in an exciting church planting internship among Muslims and internationals in New York City. Students may be enrolled full or part-time through CIU's Online Studies.
Potential employment and service for graduates include:
Mission Service: Serve as a short-term to long-term missionary in cross-cultural service in the Muslim world; mission agency office support person; mission mobilizer.
Non-governmental Worker: Serve in a non-governmental organization (NGO) in the Muslim world or among Muslim immigrants to other countries.
Peacemaking: Serve as an advocate for peace where there is conflict among Muslims themselves and between Muslims and people of other faiths.
Academic Careers: The thesis option track of the M.A. in Muslim Studies is designed to prepare you for further graduate work, especially a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies, Intercultural Studies, or a related discipline. With a Ph.D., you have the potential to teach at the college, seminary, and university level in North America and abroad.
