CIU Student Ministers to Homeless as Severe Cold Snap Hits Columbia

Columbia International University undergraduate student Kenneth Merritt has been on both sides of the soup line of a homeless shelter. Merritt, who once stayed in a homeless shelter when he was recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, now volunteers at the Oliver Gospel Mission in downtown Columbia. Merritt was featured as part of a recent news story by Columbia TV station WACH on how unusually cold weather in South Carolina has forced the homeless off the streets.
