First “Church Refreshed” conference hosted on campus

As leaders of two different Columbia-area churches stood outside the doors of Shortess Chapel, they excitedly chatted about what they had just experienced inside at Columbia International University’s first “Church Refreshed” conference.
Amidst a pandemic, racial and political tension and disunity in our country, a Columbia International University freshman is heading a new initiative called “Right Words @ CIU,” an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to communicate written messages of appreciation, assurance and encouragement to one another.
In anticipation of a new year, Columbia International University Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Andre Rogers asked CIU President Dr. Mark Smith to “go deeper” with some of CIU’s African American leaders at an early January leadership retreat.
