Alum Leads 175-Mile River Trip

Bobby Farmer

Columbia International University alumnus Bobby Farmer, a Vietnam veteran, led a weeklong 175-mile river trip from Columbia to Charleston, South Carolina in an effort to bond with, and help 22 veterans who are dealing with issues related to combat and stress.

Farmer, who graduated from CIU in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, leads a combat veterans support group at his Columbia area church. He says that military veterans who deal with post-traumatic stress disorder just has he has, get strength from the company of others who have experienced what they have experienced.

The trip caught the attention of the media, including WCSC in Charleston: https://www.live5news.com/story/28894284/veterans-paddle-8-days-175-miles-to-raise-awareness-for-ptsd
