Busy Summer at CIU

Busy Summer at CIU

Glen Schultz

Veteran Christian school educator and author Glen Schultz speaks at a workshop of the International Institute of Christian School Educators (IICSE) on the CIU campus.

Most of the student body may have been away after classes ended in mid-May, but there was still a great deal of activity on the campus of Columbia International University over the summer. In addition to summer school classes, first at the undergraduate level, then at the graduate and seminary level, annual seasonal events brought visitors to campus from around the community and around the world.

CIU hosts girls soccer camp.Dozens of Christian school teachers and administrators from across the nation and around the globe were on campus in July for training from the International Institute for Christian School Educators (IICSE). The event is presented by the Lowrie Center for Christian School Education at CIU.

The Institute focuses on the philosophy of Christian school education and its implications for today’s Christian school.

Meanwhile, CIU’s coaches held their annual youth camps for soccer, basketball and cross country. Dozens of children and youth from the Columbia area received expert training in the fundamentals of their favorite sports and were challenged to follow Christ during devotional times led by the coaches or members of the CIU Rams.
