Over 100 hundred high school seniors experienced a bit of college life and a bit of fun at Columbia International University’s annual McQuilkin Event.

The students attended a special Chapel, toured campus, sat in on classes, ate lunch with professors and experienced outdoor leadership group activities with CIU Youth Ministry Professor Sam Rubinson. The Event concluded with a dynamic concert featuring the alternative duo “Harbor and Home,” local rap artist “Big Redd,” and the praise team from Ben Lippen School, CIU’s Pre-K to 12 grade Christian school.

The campus was buzzing with excitement all day. Morgan Giles, who flew in from Springfield, Missouri for the event, said the best part of her day was talking with Intercultural Studies (ICS) Professor Victor Cuartas over lunch. Morgan says she will enroll at CIU to major in ICS. Grace Hipp from Saluda, South Carolina said that the McQuilkin Event helped her determine that CIU is where the Lord is leading her to study Psychology.

All who attend the McQuilkin Event receive a $1,500 McQuilkin Scholarship for use toward tuition at CIU. The Event is named for CIU’s first president R.C. McQuilkin.
