CIU 1995 Alumnus of the Year Remembered
Ed Shipman
People in North Central Texas are mourning the loss of the founder of a local ministry to disadvantaged and at-risk children, who was also the 1995 CIU Alumnus of the Year.
Ed Shipman, the founder of Happy Hill Farm near the town of Glen Rose, died on Aug. 22 at age 83. He was a 1956 graduate of CIU.
Happy Hill Farm’s 500 acres includes boarding facilities, a working farm, an athletic center and gym, fine arts center, swimming pool, livestock pens and a show ring, and riding trails. It was later renamed North Central Texas Academy after adding a Christian day school to its K-12 boarding program.
More on the life of Ed Shipman is found in a tribute to him in the Texas newspaper, The Glen Rose Reporter.
