CIU Adds Business & Organizational Leadership Major

CIU Adds Business & Organizational Leadership Major

Dr. Benjamin P. Dean, director of the new Business & Organizational Leadership Major

Beginning this fall, undergraduate students at Columbia International University will have the opportunity to major in Business & Organizational Leadership.  The bachelor’s degree program in CIU’s School of Arts & Sciences has been offered as a minor since 2007.

The Business & Organizational Leadership Program is designed to prepare students for various roles in entrepreneurial, corporate and non-profit environments, as well as church and non-governmental organizational settings.  Students will study the areas of finance, accounting, economics, marketing, organizational development and international business.

CIU Provost Dr. James Lanpher says the Business & Organizational Leadership major at CIU is unique because it is combined with a major in Bible.

“The combination of these majors provides an ethical perspective on business and basic skills for serving others,” Lanpher said.  “This provides a solid foundation for graduates of the program as they enter into the marketplace or a ministry setting.”

The director of the Business & Organizational Leadership program is Dr. Benjamin P. Dean. Dean has extensive organizational leadership experience with not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, experience as an attorney in the private and public sector, and experience in ministry outreach including humanitarian and charitable projects. As a ranger in the U.S. Army, Dean achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel where he was assigned to the Pentagon and a multinational NATO unit in Europe.

CIU undergraduate programs are accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).
