CIU Alumna Nominated for Grammy

Laura Story

Christian singer/songwriter Laura Story, a 2003 graduate of Columbia International University, has been nominated for a Grammy Award.  Story’s song “Blessings,” which she wrote and recorded, is one of five songs nominated in the “Best Contemporary Christian Music Song” category.  The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on "Grammy Sunday," Feb. 12, 2012, at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“Blessings” was written after Story’s husband developed a brain tumor in 2006.  Story says the song is a reminder that God remains faithful even when He doesn’t answer our prayers the way we want Him to. She says that’s why there are a lot of “what ifs” in the chorus of the song:

‘Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops

What if Your healing comes through tears

What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near

What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?
