CIU Alumni Ministries Recognizes Distinguished Faculty and Staff Members

April 28, 2011

Two longtime members of the Columbia International University family were recognized for their commitment to the ministry of CIU.

Professor Dr. David Osterlund and Marketing Production Manager Bob Wenzel were honored as Distinguished Faculty and Staff during an annual employee recognition chapel at CIU.  The annual award is provided by the Alumni Ministries Office at CIU.

The honor goes to individuals whose life and ministry reflect a faithful example of the five core values of CIU: Authority of Scripture, Victorious Christian Living, World Evangelization, Prayer & Faith, and Evangelical Unity.

The honor also recognizes outstanding achievement, commitment, and depth of service.

Osterlund, affectionately known on campus as Doc O., began serving as a music professor at CIU in 1989.  But after retiring in 2004, he became the volunteer director of the CIU Prison Initiative, which educates qualified inmates through a CIU Associate of Arts program, to become chaplain’s assistants in the South Carolina prison system.

Wenzel has served on staff at CIU for 32 years interfacing with outside vendors as he manages printed materials and promotional items for the university.
