Columbia International University alumnus Paul Silva is becoming popular in South Carolina’s Lowcountry as a “New Era” artist. That means he mixes traditional painting with computer technology and digital photography to create vivid yet soft pieces.

Silva, who graduated from CIU in 1991 with a pastoral studies degree, is today the owner of the Paul Silva Gallery in Charleston. His work is being featured this month at Honeycomb Cafe, a popular restaurant on Daniel Island near Charleston that displays the work of local artists.

His work caught the interest of The Daniel Island News. He told the newspaper that “Creating is freedom … When done to the glory of God, one is free from the concern of criticism from others. Creating to an audience of One is the joy and freedom.”
