CIU Education Graduates take on Leadership Positions

Two graduates of the Columbia International University's College of Education have recently taken on leadership positions.

Emir Ruiz Esparza has been hired as Dean of Student Life, Learning and Formation at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. He will oversee resident educators, student activities and organizations. He previously served as head of school at Berean Academy in Ebling, Kansas. Esparza graduated from CIU in 2012 with a master’s degree in Educational Administration. Read more his new role here.

Meanwhile, a 2004 graduate of CIU is the new principal at Petersburg Primary School in Chesterfield, South Carolina. Dr. Shanika David earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from CIU.

Throughout her 16 year professional career, David has served as an elementary classroom teacher, a curriculum facilitator, math coach and an assistant principal. She believes that early childhood education is foundational.  

“We must equip our students with the necessary tools that will help them be productive in our community, state, country and the world,” David said.
