CIU Golf Coach Played in 1999 PGA Championship

August 12, 2015

Columbia International University Golf Coach George Bryan remembers what it was like playing in the pairing behind Vijay Singh and just ahead of the Tiger Woods/Tom Watson group at the 1999 PGA Championship.

Bryan, who is a well-known teaching pro around the Columbia area, is gearing up to field the first CIU men’s golf team in school history this fall. As he instructs his team about performing under pressure, he can draw from his experience 16 years ago playing in one of golf’s biggest tournaments with some of the greatest names in the sport.

Bryan recently reminisced on that PGA Championship with Bob Spear of The State newspaper in the article, “Local pro Bryan played in 1999 PGA Championship.”
