December 15, 2010

Commencement exercises for Columbia International University (CIU) will take place on Saturday, May 15. Exercises for the CIU Undergraduate School will begin at 8:30 a.m. and exercises for the CIU Graduate School and CIU Seminary & School of Missions will begin at 11:00 a.m. Both events will take place in Shortess Chapel on the campus of CIU.

CIU President Dr. Bill Jones will present diplomas to 224 graduates for degrees ranging from Bible Certificate to Doctor of Ministry. The graduates will join the 17,000 other CIU alumni serving in nearly 150 countries.

The commencement address for both graduations will be delivered by The Rev. Robert J. Morgan, the pastor of Donelson Fellowship in Nashville, Tenn. Morgan became pastor of the church in 1980, and since then the church has grown from 95 to 600 members. He is also the author of eight books, and has served with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Morgan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia International University, a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Wheaton Graduate School and a Master of Divinity from Luther Rice Seminary.

Morgan's church was at the center of the recent devastating floods in Tennessee. Despite damage to the church building, members of his congregation are reaching out to help each other and the community. Check it out by visiting the Web site of the Donelson Fellowship at: http://www.donelson.org/

The public is invited to attend the commencements. Columbia International University is located at 7435 Monticello Road, two miles north of Interstate 20 in Columbia.
