Doing Community Behind Bars

December 01, 2014

Columbia International University professor of Systematic Theology, Dr. Larry Dixon discovered just how practical theology really can be when he went to prison. That is, he volunteered to teach CIU student-inmates enrolled in the CIU Prison Initiative. The Initiative educates qualified inmates who are earning an Associate of Arts degree. Upon graduation, they are sent throughout the South Carolina prison system as chaplain's assistants.

Dixon details what he learned from the student-inmates about practical theology in a recent article he wrote for the magazine "Leadership Journal." Check it out at: http://www.christianitytoday.com/le/2014/december-online-only/doing-community-behind-bars.html.
