Faith Forward: CIU Homecoming 2011

Faith Forward: CIU Homecoming 2011

Meet current CIU students and hear about their plans for the future at Homecoming.

Homecoming 2011 at Columbia International University is set for Nov. 3-5.  The theme for this year is “Faith Forward” focusing on CIU’s strategic five-year plan for the future.  The acronym FORWARD spells out those goals:

F = Facility Enhancements

O = Online Education

R = Recreation – Athletics Initiative

W= Wiring for Productivity (Internet capacity and other technology updates)

A = Academic Programs (new majors, minors and degrees)

R = Recruitment Growth

D = Development Growth

CIU Alumni Ministries Director Dr. Roy King says prayers during the three days of Homecoming will center on entrusting those goals to God.

“Throughout the weekend we'll celebrate answers to prayer related to these goals,” King said.  “We’ll also share requests we are holding up to our Father in faith.”

Nov. 3 (Thursday) Homecoming events include tours of the Robert Mills House in downtown Columbia where CIU was located from the late 1930s into the 1950s, and an Ambassador Choir Concert in the evening.

Nov. 4 (Friday) highlights include class reunions and a live Web streaming of the CIU Chapel including recognition of the Alumni of the Year.

Nov. 5 (Saturday) wraps up the festivities with a Chili Cook-Off and the CIU President’s Bowl Football Games (formerly known as the Grits Bowl or North/South game).
