Summer renovation is underway at Founders Residence Hall at Columbia International University as workers labor to gut and entirely remodel the inside of the building.

Refurbishments to the building will be identical to recent modernizations made to Memorial, East, and West Residence Halls including a microwave refrigerator and movable furniture in each room.

The goal is to have Founders ready to house upperclass males by the time students return to campus in August.

The exterior of Founders was updated a year ago with new roofs and windows.

Founders is named for “The Praying Ladies,” six women who prayed for the founding of CIU.

Meanwhile, construction of Phase II of the Pine View Apartments is progressing this summer.  When complete, 20 more apartments with 48 bedrooms will be available, as well as a separate community center for students.  The 222 beds in the four existing apartment buildings have reached 97 percent capacity.
