Despite heavy rain and wind, dozens of students braved their way into Hoke Auditorium on a cold night to play a classic game that every student has played since 2012: Kahoot!

The class of 2022 presented a “Kahoot.it” night with six rounds and prizes for the top spot in each category: History, Disney, Sports, Bible, Pop Culture and Anything Goes. There were 30 questions in each round.

“It was just a different and fun event that we knew people would enjoy,” said Kate Barbee, a junior who helped organize the night.

The students came ready to play. While Kahoot! is a very fun game, it’s also very competitive. To add to the competitive nature of the game, big prize boxes filled with various foods, drinks and unique accessories fueled the fire.

“I was very intimidated,” said sophomore Jonathan Hicks. “I don’t do very well in large settings like that so I was really intimidated.”

However, Hicks overcame the pressure and won the Bible round.

“I was really hoping I’d place top three in that one because I study the Bible here,” Hicks said. “So if I didn’t get top three, I felt like I’d have to return my degree.”

The top five in the Bible category all scored very high, but in other categories the point total was not as high. Many admitted a lot of the questions were harder than anticipated.

“I enjoyed watching people have fun answering the questions,” Barbee said. “It stumped a lot of them, but everyone was so encouraging and competitively friendly.”
