Surrounded by yells, cheers, and horn-blowing, over 25 men from the House of Virtus rushed to the stage of Shortess Chapel to be awarded the 2018 House Cup. The trophy is bestowed on the House that has accumulated the most points throughout the year through various competitions and achievements. This year Virtus was victorious.

McKenzie Sutton, a proud member of the 2017 winner, the House of Dignitas, welcomed Virtus to the “Winner’s Circle.” She was excited to witness the Virtus house spirit when they were announced the champions.

Virtus member Andrew McNeil, one of the first to touch the gleaming trophy, called the moment, “sheer jubilation.” McNeil said that being a part of Virtus means more than just winning, however. It also signifies being surrounded by men of valor who encourage each other to grow in a knowledge of the Lord.

The trophy presentation concluded the annual House Summit weekend bringing together members of all houses to celebrate the year. Activities included encouragement from CIU Residence Life Director David Blanchard, a movie night on Saturday, and a time of worship on Sunday before the cup was awarded.

The competition for next year remains fierce. Sutton issued a friendly warning to Dignitas rivals: “We’ll be back.”
