Columbia International University alumnus Blaise Shields hopes to instill “sticky faith” into today’s youth.

Shields is the new pastor of youth ministry at St. Andrew Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Auburn, Indiana. He describes “sticky faith” as a “faith that sticks with them for the rest of their lives.”

Shields, who earned a Master of Divinity degree from CIU in May, chose CIU because it offers the nation’s only program to train chaplains. His long-term goal is to be a Navy chaplain, but first must have two years of ministry experience.

While at CIU, Shields excelled in the classroom as well as in athletics where he made history as the first CIU male track and field athlete to compete in the marathon at NAIA nationals.

Shields caught the attention of the local media in northeast Indiana where he was featured in The Star newspaper published in Kendallville. Read the article, “Auburn church adds youth pastor.”

With record enrollment in 2020, CIU consistently ranks among the Top Regional Universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report, as well as a Best Value Regional University in the SouthRequest information on enrollment at CIU and Columbia Biblical Seminary or call (800) 777-2227, ext. 5024.
