Linking Police & Church

The director of the chaplaincy program at Columbia International University says chaplains provide a link between local police and local churches. Dr. Michael Langston made the comments in the cover story of the latest issue of “World” magazine. The article “Black & blue” focuses on the tense climate between police and some minority neighborhoods. Langston, a former police and military chaplain, says chaplains are there for police officers in times of crisis and “have unique access to workplaces that pastors just don’t have.”
