A Columbia International University Prayer Day ended with community service. The day was planned and hosted by the African American Student Association, and the food distribution coordinated by Temple Zion Baptist Church, just a mile from the CIU campus. The church is pastored by Andre Melvin, the director of CIU’s Prison Initiative.

The food boxes were provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a part of their Farmers to Families program.

A total of 270 boxes were distributed to the community by volunteer students and staff in a true grassroots effort.
