The Supreme Court Decisions: Two Essays on Homosexuality

Dr. David Cashin: "We don't demonize, nor do we stereotype, but we speak the truth."

In anticipation of the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 26th rulings on two cases involving homosexuality, two Columbia International University professors considered the implications for biblical Christians. In his essay, “The Hammer and the Anvil,” professor of Intercultural Studies, Dr. David Cashin identified two social trends that have strongly marginalized and stereotyped Christianity in Europe and may do the same in America. One of them is homosexuality.

Meanwhile, in his essay, “Overcoming Same-Sex Attraction,” Dr. Harvey Payne, dean of the CIU College of Counseling, challenges the church to come alongside believers who are struggling with homosexuality.

Both articles are published in the spring edition of CIU’s “Connection” magazine. You’ll find them on pages 20 and 21 at http://www.ciu.edu/connection/connection-spring-2013
