First Presbyterian Church will be holding their 2012 Spiritual Life Conference featuring guest speaker Dr. R.C. Sproul. The event will be held February 10th-11th in the Sanctuary and is entitled The Needs of the Hour. Session 1, 7:00 p.m. Friday: A Famine of the Word Session 2, 9:00 a.m. Saturday: The Prayer-lessness of the Church Session 3, 10:45 a.m. Saturday: Bridges to the World The event is free of charge and no registration is required. Denny Terrace Tutoring Ministry is looking for people willing to work with students from the Denny Terrace neighborhood on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, 4-6 PM. This program provides an opportunity to build relationships with K-6th grade students, to teach a Bible lesson, and to help students with their homework. Ministry time can count toward CSL hours. Ladies are invited to meet with the group Faith and Culture: Conversations for Thinking Women of All Ages featuring Lael Arrington, co-author of the book Faith and Culture: The Guide to a Culture Shaped by Faith. The group will meet on Tuesdays (Jan. 31st, Feb. 21st, Mar. 13th, and Apr. 3rd & 24th) from 11:50 AM to1:30 PM in Rikard Dining Room. Participants are invited to bring a bagged lunch or grab a tray. All students expecting to graduate in May need to have their Graduation Applications turned in to the University Registrar’s Office no later than January 31st. Applications are available on-line, or stop by the Registrar’s Office to pick one up. College Girls Prayer Time will be meeting this semester every Tuesday right after chapel for about 20 minutes in Karen Close’s office in Ridderhof. Phil Cantrell, a 1986 M. Div. graduate of CIU and representative of Christar, will be on campus on Jan 31st – Feb 1st in Memorial Hall to share about Tatarstan. Snacks will be served. Athletic announcements: First Annual Discover CIU 5k on February 4th. $5 discount on registration for all students, faculty, and staff of CIU and Ben Lippen. Signups are at the fitness center. The Married Student Association (MSA) has joined WMHK in supporting the Art of Marriage Weekend by FamilyLife taking place in Hoke Auditorium on Feb 10-11.
