Dr. Bill Jones serves as the sixth president of Columbia International University which educates people from a biblical worldview to impact the nations with the message of Christ. To this end CIU has over 16,000 alumni ministering in over 140 countries around the world. As president, Jones serves the faculty and staff as they focus on providing all students at all levels with academic excellence, character formation and the ministry skills to make a difference for Christ wherever the graduates go in the world. He also works to enhance a campus environment that reinforces the Christian values that parents desire for their young people. Jones believes that CIU, with its alumni, faculty, staff and students in K4 through the doctoral program, when joined with its radio broadcast ministry, stands uniquely positioned to impact the world for Christ.

Jones accepted the role of president after serving as CIU's provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. As president, he will continue teaching evangelism and missions as he has for the past 19 years. During these years at CIU, Jones launched the Youth Ministries major in the undergrad and the M. A. in Leadership for Evangelism and Mobilization in the Seminary.

Jones graduated summa cum laude with a chemistry degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and holds earned doctorates from both Columbia Biblical seminary and Gordon Conwell seminary.

While a college student, he served as a campus director for Youth for Christ in Atlanta, Georgia from 1974-76. After graduating from college, he served at two churches, first as a student pastor in Florida from 1976-1983, and then from 1983-1987 as a minister of evangelism and college students in Atlanta, Georgia. During his time in Atlanta, he also worked with Josh McDowell to produce books such as The Teenage Q & A Book and other resources for students.

Jones serves as chair of the International Leadership Team of Crossover Communications International, a missions agency he cofounded in 1987. Crossover ministers in seventeen countries by multiplying church planters to plant multiplying churches among least reached people groups. In the last 12 years, Crossover has launched 118 new churches.

A passionate communicator, Jones has trained thousands of people around the world to effectively share the message of Christ's love and forgiveness using his booklet, The John 3:16 One Verse Method. He has also authored several books, most recently, Putting Together the Puzzle of the Old Testament and Putting Together the Puzzle of the New Testament.

In 1979, he married Debby Jones who holds a Masters in Christian Education degree from CIU. She speaks at women's conferences and coauthored a book on ten character qualities of a godly woman titled Lady in Waiting. Bill and Debby have four grown children.
