Why did you choose Columbia International University?

I chose CIU for many reasons.  I knew the training I would receive at CIU was something I would not get anywhere else.  But I didn't just come for the education; I also chose CIU for the community.  I wanted a place , where people would encourage and challenge me in my relationship with Christ, my knowledge of who God is, and the ability to life a Christ-like life.  I have found that and so much more here.

What has been your favorite class at CIU and why?

This is a hard question to answer!  I can't pick one, but I will narrow it down to three.  Old Testament Survey for sure; I never knew how amazing the Old Testament is until I came to CIU and was able to see God's love and power throughout the Old Testament until now.  Applied Outdoor Leadership was also a great class.  I learned about the importance of how to love and value group members when placed in a leadership role.  Finally, I really enjoyed Counseling Youth and Families.  That class was pivotal in teaching me how to deal with students and understand people better.  It also impacted my life and my relationship with my family because of how it was structured.

What do you like best about CIU?

There are so many things to say, but one of the things I like best about CIU is the community here.  Not only do you get to meet people from all over the world and make life-long friends, but the faculty and staff have a desire to see the students grow.  They want you to grow not just in academic knowledge, but also in your relationship with God and in your interaction with others - and they come alongside you to see it happen.  The community here is unlike any other I've been a part of, and it has been what has impacted me the most over the past few years.

What do you plan to do after graduation from CIU?

I would love to work in the youth ministry department of a church.  I want to see students grow and reach their full potential in Christ.  But something I have learned over the years is that God has a plan for me, and I may not know what that is just yet.  I'm ready and willing to do whatever He calls me to!
