Purpose and Objectives

The Biblical Languages major provides students with thorough training in the languages of the Bible. It prepares

students to apply their training in such areas as Bible translation and exegesis and to use their training as a

foundation for graduate work or research.

In addition to the mission statement, general objectives, and requirements of the bachelor’s degree, the objectives

of the Biblical Languages program are to enable students to:

Master the basic grammar and syntax of the biblical languages.

Utilize standard language tools effectively.

Produce accurate translations of biblical texts into English by applying language skills and using language

tools.

See Appendix A for graduation requirements.
