2016-2017 ADMISSIONS

International Students

Applicants applying for admission as full or part-time degree seeking or non-degree seeking and who are not United States

citizens must provide the following to the Admissions Office:

All general application requirements.

International Credential Advancement Package (ICAP) evaluation by World Education Services (WES) for all

transcripts for post-secondary schools attended outside the United States. Academic records not written in English

must be accompanied by a certified translation.

Official report of the score earned on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if English is not the

applicant’s first language. TOEFL school code: 5116; TOEFL score minimum:

Internet-based exam: 70

Computer-based exam: 195

Proof of finances by submitting the International Citizens Financial Certification form available on our website

www.ciu.edu

. Applicants and/or sponsors must include a bank statement certifying the funds listed.

Proof of residency for students who are living in the United States and not on an F-1 Visa.

Following admission to the University, international students are required to submit a $7,000 (single students) or

$10,000 (married students) enrollment deposit and all necessary documentation for issuance of the student visa.

Concurrent/Dual Enrollment Students

High school juniors and seniors may apply to enroll in college-level courses as part of CIU’s dual enrollment program. To

enroll as a high school dual enrollment student, the student must submit a high school transcript and all items required in

the general application procedures listed above except the official test scores. Students who are classified by their high

school as a senior may register for lower division undergraduate courses if they have a high school minimum cumulative

GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students who are classified by their high school as a junior may register for lower division

undergraduate courses if they have a high school minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. A maximum of 24 credit

hours may be earned as a high school dual enrollment student.

Notification to Undergraduate Applicants

Once all application materials have been received, the completed application will be reviewed and the applicant notified of

the admission decision. Admission decisions are made without regard to race, ethnic origin, nationality, gender, or disability.

CIU reserves the right to deny or revoke the admission of any applicant whose behavior or lifestyle is inconsistent with

biblical principles or with the lifestyle standards of the CIU community.

Enrollment and Housing Deposits

Applicants approved for admission submit a $100 enrollment deposit and a $100 housing deposit for students living in the

residence halls (see “International Students” for international deposit requirement). Refund policies are outlined in “Tuition

and Fees Policies” available on our website

. Students are required to submit the enrollment deposit to secure

their place within the desired start term. All students must also submit a completed pre-registration health form available on

my.ciu.edu

Residence Hall Housing Requirement

Full-time students who are single and under 23 years old are required to live in the residence halls. Students living with

immediate family within commuting distance are required to live on campus for a minimum of two semesters during their

first year of attendance at CIU. This requirement also applies to dependents of CIU employees. Students must be 23 years

of age before August 1 of the current school year to be eligible to live off campus during that school year.

Provisional Acceptance

Entering undergraduate students who have a deficiency in their academic qualifications may be admitted on a provisional

basis. An Admission Review Committee will review the candidate’s performance in previous education, work, or military

training and determine if provisional admission is appropriate.
