Jayson Casper (’09)

lives with his wife, Julie, and their four

children in Cairo, Egypt where he serves as a correspondent for

Christianity Today magazine and writes the blog, “A Sense of

Belonging” focusing on Egyptian politics, religion, and culture.

Jayson worked previously in Mauritania, Jordan, and Tunisia,

and holds an M.A. in Islamic studies from CIU.

Lars-Uwe (’09) Sonja Huget (’09)

Jung

met while studying at the CIU

extension in Korntal, Germany, and

were married 10 days after attaining

master’s degrees in Intercultural

Studies in 2009. After pastoring

a church for two years in Hanau,

Germany, they joined the Marburger

Mission in 2011 and are now working

in the interior of the Sertão region

in northeastern Brazil. Their ministry

includes theological education,

mentoring pastors and church leaders, and ministering to

families with handicapped children.

Family, friends and alumni gathered to

celebrate

Catherine Walker’s

100th

birthday on May 16. Catherine graduated

in 1939. She is the daughter of Mrs. Clara

Walker, a former dean of women for whom

Walker Residence Hall is named. Catherine

served in China for three years, and assisted

in the founding of a seminary in Indonesia

where she taught for 30 years.

Tirrell and Karina Howell

welcomed their

third child, Elliot on July 14, 2015. Tirrell

is the director of IT at CIU and Karina is a

former Ben Lippen School staff member.

Their daughters Trinity and Zoe’ are thrilled

to have a baby brother.
