Do the residence halls have kitchen facilities? There is a kitchen on the end of each floor equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and toaster oven.

How can I do my laundry? Coin/card operated washers and dryers are located in Founders Basement (the central women’s dorm), Memorial Basement (the central men’s dorm), and the Clusters.

Is there anywhere in the residence halls where I can watch TV and movies with my friends of the opposite gender? Each residence has a public lounge for co-ed interaction, and is equipped with a TV, VCR and DVD player.

Are there places in the residence halls where I can workout and keep myself physically fit? Equipment and space for exercising are located in workout rooms in Memorial Basement for the men and in Founders Basement for the women. The new athletic center, located behind the Seminary building, is available with new equipment and space.

How large are the floors in one of the residence hall rooms? Standard rooms measure 14'9" x 11'10". Rooms in Memorial, Walker, and the Clusters are already carpeted.

How large are the windows in the rooms? Windows in standard rooms measure 97" x 49". Curtains should not exceed 54" in length due to the presence of air-conditioning/heating units.

How can I mount pictures and posters to the walls of my room? All pictures and posters (in harmony with CIU’s standards) should be mounted with 3M Command tape or Plasti-Tak (clear or white only). Nails, pins, paste, scotch tape, hot glue guns, or double adhesive tapes are not permitted.

What furniture comes with a standard room? Rooms include a bed, desk, bookshelf, wardrobe and dresser space for each resident.

Are there telephones in the room? Residence rooms are equipped with individual telephone jacks. However, you will need to bring your own telephone and purchase your own long distance telephone card, as the phones are for local calls only.

How are the rooms set up for connecting to the internet? Each dormitory room is equipped with two ethernet ports for access to the Internet via the campus network. The Clusters and houses currently use dial up.

What should I bring with me when I come to live at the dormitories? The following items are approved (and/ or recommended) for your room if you desire: bed linens, towels, telephone, coffee pot, computer, lamps, answering machine, stereo, flashlight, fans, and decorative items.

What items should I NOT bring? Do NOT bring private refrigerators, microwaves, TVs and/or VCR/DVD players, or halogen lamps.
