The Director of Student Engagement and Leadership exists to plan and execute events and activities in order to provide exceptional experiences for the student body.  He or she will oversee leadership development initiatives for student leaders to ensure CIU is investing in students now and preparing them for life after graduation.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing Welcome Week, Student Leadership Retreat and Training, Residence Life interviews, Student Government Association, Myrtle Beach Retreat, McQuilkin, The House Collective, etc.

  • Oversight of planning and execution of Student Organizations, Residence Life, and on-campus events including student leader hiring process and training
  • Coordinating details and volunteers for Welcome Week and First Six Weeks activities
  • Developing and execute a strategic initiative for Student Leader Training and ongoing leadership development
  • Intentional mentorship and discipleship with students and upcoming student leaders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), willing to learn campus specific software including JenzebarOne, Squarespace, Softdocs, and ReadyEducation’s Campus Cloud
  • Have and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain and maintain – training will be provided upon hiring)
  • Ability to remain calm and lead through emergencies
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
  • One year supervisory experience minimum
