Description: 

Under the direction of the principal or assigned administrator, supports the academic development of each student through academic counseling, course selection, and standardized testing.  Performs a variety of complex statistical record keeping duties related to the enrollment, graduation, or withdrawal of high school students according to established policies and procedures.  Receives, sets up, and evaluates records, updates files with class credits and grades, and evaluates records for compliance with graduation requirements.  Maintains and archives academic records.  Creates master schedule and student schedules.

 

Responsibilities: 
  • Counsel students and families on course selection and graduation requirements
  • Counsel students on academic probation
  • Assist School Counselor in counseling students on organizational, study and test-taking skills
  • Counsel school athletes on NCAA requirements
  • Counsel parents about student’s academic needs and facilitate parent/teacher meetings
  • NCAA Adminstrator
  • Register and withdraw students
  • Create the master course schedule
  • Create teacher schedules and room schedules
  • Ensure student transcripts and database information are maintained accurately
  • Facilitate student class scheduling
  • Compile honor roll and academic probation lists
  • Coordinate standardized testing
  • Assist College Counselor with academic advisement for college entrance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications: 
  • Understanding of graduation requirements and state scholarship requirements
  • Extensive computer knowledge; experience with RenWeb and Naviance is a plus
  • Interact with a diverse range of formal and informal contacts with courtesy and patience
  • Maintain privacy of student records and information
  • Translate subjects and credits from other schools, including internationally, and adapt them to Ben Lippen’s grading system and school calendar
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills are necessary
  • Confidentiality is a high priority
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, including in a public speaking context
  • Ability to counsel students and families
  • Counseling, especially school counseling, training and/or experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
