Since the inception of intercollegiate athletics at CIU in 2012, the Athletics Department has had one mission: To be “a community of believers who exist to Glorify God by using sports as a platform to impact the nations with the message of Christ.” The Athletics Department will celebrate their first decade of athletes and coaches who have consistently and passionately lived up to that mission with the creation of the CIU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Be a part of shaping 21st century mission by participating in the Future of Global Mission Conference. Mission leaders from around the world are coming to CIU’s campus to strategize and share on what the next 100 years of mission will look like. Grammy Award winning alumna, Laura Story, will provide music. Speakers will share from personal experience and biblical scholarship on topics from getting the gospel to the least reached, to medical missions and disaster relief.

The House Throwdown is one of CIU's most popular events for the student body and is now open to parents, alumni, and the local Columbia community. Seven residential student houses compete for the House Throwdown championship, as well as for points for the prestigious House Cup. The event is organized by students, including musical arrangement, choreography, acting, and prop design. Each house is led by two Campus Life Coordinators, student leaders selected by the Residence Life team, who rehearse with their house starting in September to put on a show that is fun and full of Ram pride.
Join the Ram Fam this Homecoming weekend to see our students celebrate our 100th anniversary and our campus life in a creative way that you'll never forget.

The Class of 2023 will have the privilege of walking the stage of Shortess Chapel a century after the founding of CIU as The Southern Bible Institute that held its first classes in a rented house near downtown Columbia.
At its founding, the institute was to be “evangelical, interdenominational and missionary” and its purpose was “the training of Christian men and women in the knowledge and practical use of the Bible for service at home and abroad.” Methods and platforms for ministry have changed over time, but in 100 years, CIU has not deviated from that foundation.
