B.A., Columbia College of S.C.; M.A., University of South Carolina
Allison grew up, mostly, right here in Columbia, S.C. Upon graduating from college, and during a brief stint in human resources with a local law firm, God laid a clear call on her heart to become a college writing professor. After earning her master’s in Composition and Rhetoric from the University of South Carolina, she taught professional communication courses for the Darla Moore School of Business. In 2011, she and her husband, along with their first-born son, moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. There Allison taught technical writing courses for Harrisburg Area Community College and also first-year English, public speaking, and business writing courses for Lancaster Bible College. In 2016, her family (now including two more children), returned to Columbia, SC, and soon after Allison joined the CIU faculty as an adjunct and now full-time English professor.
Her passion is helping writers cultivate their own creative, well-developed, and influential voices to impact the world for Christ. When not pondering words, Allison is always up for a good road trip, drinking a delicious latte, and having fun with her husband Ben and three children—Reed, Lucas, and Ansley.
