Dr. Sarah Thomas joined Columbia International University as a part-time faculty in 2019. She was promoted to full-time in 2021. Previously, Thomas was an Adjunct Professor (2002-2012) at South Carolina State University. She has over 30 years of human services experience.  She worked with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health as Director of Children and Family Services. Prior to working with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Thomas was employed with South Carolina Department of Social Services/Managed Treatment Services as a Program Director for a Public Therapeutic Foster Program and a Wrap Services Program.  She received numerous awards for outstanding service, commitment, and significant contributions for the success of programs for children, adolescents and their families. Thomas is actively involved in several ministries at Across All Boundaries Christian Church, Columbia, SC.

Dr. Thomas enjoys traveling and going to the beach. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, exercising, attending CIU sports, and USC women’s basketball games. She also mentors underprivileged youth.
