Description

The Success Coach will help students develop skills, behaviors and habits that will contribute to their academic success. These include academic goal setting, learning strategies, time management and organization, self-regulation and self-efficacy.

 

Responsibilities

  • One-on-one coaching for undergraduate and graduate students through online platform
  • Collaboration with the ASC leadership to enhance the online experience for students
  • Attend weekly or bi-monthly staff meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Provide guidance and support for new tutors in the ASC
  • Assist students in developing self-efficacy by identifying and making plans to overcome obstacles that may impede academic success

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of coaching, instructional and mentoring techniques
  • Knowledge of online course practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of trends, issues and accepted practices relevant to the position
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to balance multiple demands and effectively organize and manage time and tasks
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community
  • Excellent listening skills
  • A dedicated interest in supporting the success of other students
  • Master’s degree (in order to be equipped to work with graduate students)
  • 1- 2 years of experience as college tutor or in related field
