There’s no question about it. CIU has got talent. And that was proved once again at the annual spring talent show Acousta, formerly known as AcoustaRockaRappaPalooza by CIU students of an earlier era. At Acousta the entire student body gathers to enjoy the remarkable talents from across campus.

Among the talents featured this year were multiple solo artists, two singing groups representing the genres of acoustic and R&B, a musical trio playing instrumentals of several different recognizable rock/pop tunes, and a comedian.  Although the overall tone of Acousta remained fun and upbeat, it ended on a solemn note with an original piano piece from senior Juliano Maglio about death and the human response to it, a reminder that the student body is still healing from the death of a fellow student in a traffic accident during spring break.

The show gained very positive reception from junior Pearce Whitaker, a Music major.

“Even though most of the acts were strictly musical, the show felt more diverse than it had in previous years,” said Whitaker. “It definitely felt more somber this year … certainly an interesting tone departure.”

Community is at the heart of CIU where we’re celebrating 100 years of educating people from a biblical worldview to impact the nations with the message of Christ. The university consistently ranks among the Top Regional Universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report, as well as a Best Value Regional University in the South. Request information on enrollment by contacting Admissions at (803) 807-5024 or admissions@ciu.edu.
